Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I am writing to respectfully petition for permission to add a course to my Fall 2025 schedule. Unfortunately, I recently learned that I inadvertently registered for 9 units of courses outside of Arts and Science. I was unaware of this restriction until the Undergraduate Administrative Coordinator notified me after the course add deadline had already passed. As a result, I am currently enrolled in a course that will not count toward my plan or degree requirements. To remain on track for graduation, I need to drop this course and replace it with one that fulfills program requirements. Specifically, I am requesting approval to enroll in either IDIS 179 or GNDS 315 in its place. I take full responsibility for this oversight, but I hope you will consider my situation. Without the opportunity to add one of these courses this term, I will be unable to graduate on time. I am eager to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and am committed to meeting all academic requirements.
