Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear [Registrar’s Office],

I am writing to formally request permission to enroll in a Philosophy course this term, even though the official deadline has passed.

My mother recently underwent major brain surgery, and because of the seriousness of her recovery, I felt it was important to wait until she was physically stronger and mentally prepared before discussing this decision with my parents. Unfortunately, this meant that I was not able to finalize my course selection before the deadline.

I have tried reaching out to the Philosophy professor for support, but I have not received a response. Without that, I do not have the support I need to submit the petition with documentation. Given my circumstances, I hope you can understand my situation and consider postponing the petition deadline until I have received the support documentation.
