Appeal Grounds Details: Dear Members of the Board of Studies
I am writing to formally appeal the decision made by the Associate Dean regarding my petition to register for the Fall semester. Due to a temporary hold on my student account, I was unable to register for courses during the designated enrollment period. In July when I had first gone to register, I had seen the hold. I thought it was still on my account due to the fact that I had taken a summer course the year before. Then again later in July and August when the hold was still on my account, I was confused. I reached out to my head of department, and undergrad registration during August as for what I understood I had completed the necessary steps in rejoining for the fall semester. I acted in good faith by attempting to resolve the issue as soon as I became aware of it.
The hold was only released from my account after the registration for classes had expired. During this time I had been in contact with my head of department and the undergraduate registration. I was also attending classes that I wanted to join and had talked to the professors there. Understanding the academic importance of maintaining progress this term, I proactively reached out to the instructors of the courses I intended to take. I have received approval or permission from most of them to join their classes, despite the delayed registration. The associate dean had acknowledged the fact that I had this permission but still denied my petition. Despite these efforts and the support I received from faculty, the Associate Dean denied my appeal without providing adequate reasoning that addressed the specific circumstances of my case. The decision lacked a clear explanation as to why my individual situation warranted a denial. My request is simply to be allowed to continue my studies this semester, as I have done all I can within the circumstances to resolve the issue and meet academic expectations.
After I had gotten the denied petition, I had spoken to academic advising who encouraged me to write a second appeal. I now respectfully submit this final appeal for your consideration.

The reason I was unable to register on time was due to a hold on my SOLUS account connected to a prior withdrawal status. I had thought I had completed all the necessary requirements to be able to re-enroll and so I was confused as why the hold persisted after July. This hold remained in place despite my intent to return to studies, and by the time it was removed, the registration deadline had passed. Recognizing this, I acted immediately: I contacted my head of department and undergrad registration in August to inquire about re-enrollment. I had the help of my head of department in reaching out to each of my professors. Every one of them granted me permission to join their courses, showing confidence in my ability to succeed and catch up. I attended classes and was actively engaged while waiting for official registration to be processed.
In the Associate Dean’s response, these efforts were acknowledged—but not meaningfully considered in the final decision. The response focused instead on a general concern about starting courses late, stating that entering in Week 4
