Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I have found a unique academic opportunity to study at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for the Winter 2026 semester, and as part of this experience I am seeking permission to take four courses totalling 12.0 units through the ILOP. The potential opportunity to study abroad has been something I have really looked forward to as part of my undergraduate experience at Queen’s, and this particular university is appealing as it offers many courses applicable to my degree plan, and Amsterdam is a city that I am enthusiastic about exploring.

After finding this opportunity, I have consulted with a Queen’s Academic Advisor to ensure that I will complete my BAH degree plan on time, as well as Vrije Universiteit’s Academic Calendar for 2025-2026 to create a plan that includes courses that are within the Business and Market Strategy Sub-Plan for my Applied Economics Major, contribute to the Psychology minor plan, and elective courses. My extensive research and plan-mapping ensures that I am prepared for academic success and have eliminated the likelihood of administrative challenges related to fulfilling the requirements to graduating in April 2027.

Thank you for your consideration.

Kind regards,
Charlotte Ford

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Pending your permission, I plan to take four courses to total 12.0 units through the ILOP. I have consulted Vrije Universiteit’s Academic Calendar for 2025-2026 to create a plan that includes substitutes for two option courses within the Business and Market Strategy Sub-Plan for my Applied Economics Major, one course that contributes to completion of the Psychology minor plan, and one elective course.

The structure of the school’s academic calendar is such that students take two courses each period, so I would complete 6.0 units from February 2 - March 27 and another 6.0 units from March 30 - May 29. The structure is as follows:

Period 4 (Feb 2 - Mar 27):
Competition Law (APEC Major Plan)
Sensation and Perception (PSYC Minor Plan)

Period 5 (Mar 30 - May 29):
Managing and Improving Quality (APEC Major Plan)
Global Marketing Innovation (Elective)
