Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am writing to formally request late drops for the following courses on medical grounds:

Winter 2025:
- BCHM 218
Summer 2025:
- BCHM 218
- DEVS 102

Throughout the 2024 - 2025 academic year I was dealing with ongoing kidney stones and untreated endometriosis, as well as the effects of a traumatic personal loss in August 2024. My medical and mental health both deteriorated significantly through the winter and summer terms, and I ultimately experienced an acute mental health crisis which required medical intervention. At the time, I was not medically or mentally stable enough to make informed academic decisions before the drop deadlines.

I have been under ongoing medical care, and I have a supporting note from my gynecologist available.

Because of this medical history and the need to fully stabilize before returning to my studies, I am also requesting to take a Leave of Absence for the remainder of this academic year, with the intention to return and complete my degree requirements once my health is stable.

I would greatly appreciate your support in approving the late drops without academic penalty and the Leave of Absence. I have attached the note from my doctor as well.

Sincerely,
Cailin Monker
