Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to submit a petition requesting to drop my course due to extenuating circumstances that directly affected my ability to meet required coursework.
Throughout the semester, I experienced persistent difficulty locating the required discussion posts on ONQ. Although I checked the course site regularly, the discussion boards never appeared for me, and I was unaware that posts were opening and closing each week. This issue began early in the term and continued until very recently, when I discovered that the discussions had been available but not visible on my end. Once I realized what had happened, I immediately reviewed the course site in detail and attempted to troubleshoot the issue.
Because of this ongoing technical issue, I was unable to complete a portion of the course’s required work. I contacted my professor on [add date] asking if I could make up the discussions or demonstrate my knowledge in another way. Despite strong grades in other assignments and assessments my professor informed me that there was no option to make up for the missed work and directed me to the late drop process.
Please let me know if you see an alternate path to recover this course. If not, given that these circumstances were beyond my control and had a direct impact on my academic performance, I respectfully request permission to drop the course on compassionate grounds.
