Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Title: Request for Late Drop Courses in the Fall 2025 Due to Special Circumstances

Dear Associate Dean:

I am writing to request the late drop of my enrollment in all the Fall 2025 courses listed below. I understand that normal drop times have exceeded the official academic deadlines; however, I believe my situation falls under the definition of special circumstances beyond the student's control.

Courses Requested for Late Drop:
PSYC 100A, GPHY 101, FILM 111, HLTH 101, GNDS 120, PROF 110A, EXLR

Special Circumstances:

I applied for a study permit this summer 2025 and have been awaiting a decision from IRCC. Until December, I received no notification regarding my status, and I continued to attend classes, complete assignments, and prepare for final exams on time.

However, on December 2, 2025, I received a rejection letter from IRCC stating that my study permit application had been refused and requesting that I leave Canada immediately. This is a sudden emergency completely beyond my control.

Following the refusal, I immediately met with my QUIC, Education Student Services, and academic advisor, who confirmed:

1. Due to my status, I am unable to take final exams or complete the fall term courses.

2. I must withdraw and drop courses from the winter term 2026 and return to my home country to reapply for a new study permit.

3. A confirmation letter of return to school that supports my new study permit application.

Due to the above circumstances, despite my active participation throughout the term, I am still unable to complete any courses and exams for the fall term of 2025.

Timeline:

Fall Semester 2025: Classes proceeded as scheduled; no immigration issues were identified.

December 2, 2025: Received IRCC refusal letter, requiring immediate departure.

December 9, 2025: My academic advisor informed me that I could not continue my studies or take exams.

December 10, 2025: I have already cancelled my winter courses and am still waiting for the Faculty of Education to process my cancellation.

Application:

Due to the sudden and involuntary interruption of my studies, I am applying for approval to drop all of the Fall 2025 courses.

These circumstances were unforeseen and beyond my control. I have provided the following supporting documents:

1. Refusal letter from IRCC received on December 2, 2025

2. Confirmation letter of return to school from the Faculty of Education

Thank you for taking the time to review my request. I sincerely hope for a compassionate review due to the exceptional nature of my situation.

Sincerely,
Jinghan Wang
