Petition Letter: December 15, 2025


To Queen’s University Faculty of Arts and Science,

My Fall Term 2025 has suffered considerably due to mental health issues that I have been dealing with over the course of the term. In November I dropped two courses for this reason (CISC 203 and CISC 221). In December my condition has worsened considerably. As a result I was and am unable to complete my remaining courses. I am currently under the care of my family doctor and a psychologist.

I am now requesting permission to drop my other three courses (CISC 204, CISC 220, and HIST 299) past the end date of classes for those courses (Dec. 2). I am seeking DR and not IN status on these courses. In Winter Term 2026 I intend to live at home and work on improving my mental state where I have the best support structure to do so; to this end I also intend to go through the process of seeking a temporary withdrawal from studies for Winter Term 2026, which I understand to be something which I must apply for separately from this academic petition.

I have separately provided as part of this online academic petition a medical letter from the psychologist whose care I am under, Dr. Dana Costin.
