Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing to formally request academic consideration due to extenuating medical circumstances that will affect my academic performance.
On the 4th I had a very high fever after landing back in Ontario to attend school. I was then hospitalized that night because the fever needed further intervention. There, I was told I had Influenza - A following many tests. On the 7th, I was hospitalized again after developing a full-body rash. During this visit, I was informed that the rash was an adverse reaction to prescribed medication. The symptoms I experienced included extreme itchiness across affected areas, swelling of my hands, and episodes of lightheadedness and fainting. These symptoms were persistent and impairing, making it extremely difficult to complete easy tasks such as get up and move around the house, prepare food and focus. As a result, my ability to perform at my usual academic level has been directly impacted, particularly with respect to attending classes and preparing for assessments scheduled immediately following these events. Additionally, I am recovering from knee surgery I had done over the break which severely limits my movement.
Throughout this time, I sought appropriate medical care and followed the advice of healthcare professionals to manage my condition and recover safely. Despite these efforts, the severity and extreme unpredictability of my symptoms continue to limit my capacity to keep up with my academic responsibilities.
I respectfully request that the committee consider these circumstances when reviewing my academic standing. These events were sudden, unavoidable, and have directly affected my academic abilities.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Kiera Robertson
