Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Queen’s University,

My name is Alison Mackie (20504456) and I'm scheduled to write a PSYC 100 exam on January 16 at 7 pm EST and a BIOL 103 exam on January 18 at 9 am EST. However, both of these exams greatly conflict with my schedule, and I am writing this letter with the intent to further defer these exams. I am a professional cross country skier and am currently in Europe, racing for Canada at the highest level of my sport. I have been named to the Milano Cortina 2026 Canadian Olympic Team for cross country skiing and must be in Europe during this time to prepare for the upcoming Winter Olympics. I will be racing at a World Cup in Oberhof, Germany on January 17 and 18. It is crucial that I participate in these races, as I am currently the U23 Women’s World Cup leader, and must race in order to collect World Cup points and keep my position in the world ranking.

The PSYC 100 exam is at 1 am CET for me on January 17, which is unfair for me to write as I am racing the next morning. The BIOL 103 exam is at 3 pm CET for me on January 18th, and I will be actively racing during that time. Balancing my academic and athletic performances is my top priority, and deferring these exams will allow me to perform at my best in both areas of my life.

Sincerely,
Alison Mackie
