Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I had to defer two of my exams this past exam season as I was experiencing an extenuating health circumstance that left me bed ridden for several days. I had received several emails regarding my PHGY 215 deferral, but had not seen any emails regarding my PSYC 202 referral date. I reached out to the psych accommodations office on the 12th inquiring about this date as I had not seen any emails yet. I was then told that I should hear within a few days. I assumed this email would be sent to me after the 12th, as the office had told me that it still was not sent yet. After repeatedly checking my email everyday, I followed up on the 18th with still no information. i was then notified on the 19th that the date had already passed, and the email had been sent out on the 9th with the date and time for the deferral. I then dug through my emails to find the email buried among my other emails from the “Exams office” with no description in the subject regarding what exam it was about. I do not know how I missed this email, but I may have assumed it was a follow up on the PHGY exam that I had already received information about. With the emails that provided me information for my PHGY exam, the subject contained the course code and deferral information. However, this email for my PSYC 202 deferral was only titled “Deferred Exam Information”, from the Queens Exam office. Though it is my fault that I had missed this buried email, I feel as though I have been mislead as I reached out on the 12th regarding this examination, and was told to wait for a email in the coming future. It is also worth noting that it is likely recorded that I reported this email on the 9th to “junk” today an then undid it. This was because I wanted to know if it had been in my junk initially, and somehow moved, or if I had simply missed it entirely. I realize now that it may appear as though I were trying to use foul play to be able to retake this examination, but I simply was trying to understand how I may have missed this email. Thank you for your time, and if any further clarification is needed I would be happy to discuss.
