Re: request for extension of an exam deferral for PSYC 100
Dear Dr. Naaman,
I am writing to request a deferral of my PSYC 100 (2025-26) deferred Mid-year/December Exam.
I became ill in late November 2025 (see attached Verification of Extenuating Circumstances Form completed by my family doctor, dated November 30, 2025) and was unable to write the PSYC 100 Mid-year Exam on December 5th. I was then scheduled to write the deferred exam on January 17,2026.
My health improved significantly over the Winter Break, but because I was not fully healed I was more susceptible to contracting another virus and, unfortunately, I became ill again (beginning January 14th – see attached Verification of Extenuating Circumstances Form completed by my family doctor, dated January 16, 2026). My illness is severe enough (it has resulted in me being housebound and, at times, bedridden) that it has affected my ability to attend classes, complete assignments, and write tests/quizzes. Thus, I was unable to
write the PSYC100 deferred exam on January 17th (and have submitted a request for Academic Consideration due to Extenuating Circumstances for my other two Winter Term courses).
I have been in contact with the Department of Psychology’s Accommodations and Learning Management Systems Assistant, and she has indicated that if my petition is approved by you, I will be able to write the deferred exam sometime later this term.
I am currently under the care of my family doctor and following her recommendations for recovery and hope to be able to resume most of my regular academic activities by the end of this month.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Casper Goodfellow
