Petition Letter: Hello,
I am writing to inquire about the possibility of enrolling in ECON 256 for this semester.
I was previously enrolled in ECON 256 and was scheduled to write a deferred exam. Unfortunately, I received distressing news regarding my family in Iran on the morning before the exam, which prevented me from being able to write it. I contacted my professor, who informed me that I may be eligible to seek academic accommodations to complete the exam during the second-term deferred exam period.
That said, I would very much appreciate the opportunity to rejoin ECON 256 this semester. I believe that being enrolled in the course again would allow me to be more actively engaged, benefit from the full learning experience, and strengthen my understanding of the material.
If there is any way you could assist me with enrolling in ECON 256 for this term, I would be extremely grateful. Please let me know if any additional documentation or steps are required from my end.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: During the deferred exam period, I was experiencing an extremely difficult and traumatic time due to serious family circumstances in Iran. The emotional impact of the situation made me unable to complete the deferred exam as scheduled. This was an isolated but deeply distressing period, and I have since taken time to reflect and stabilize my academic and personal situation.
ECON 256 is a foundational course required for many of my upper-year economics classes. Not completing this course at this stage would cause me to fall significantly behind in my program progression and limit my ability to enroll in required courses in upcoming terms. For this reason, successfully completing ECON 256 as soon as possible is essential to my academic plan.
At present, I am enrolled in only three courses this semester, which is a fully manageable course load for me. This lighter load allows me to dedicate sufficient time, focus, and effort to ECON 256 and ensure strong academic performance. I have the capacity and space in my schedule to fully engage with the course, attend all lectures and tutorials, and remain consistent with coursework and assessments.
My plan for academic success is to maintain this manageable course load, prioritize ECON 256 as a core requirement, and remain proactive in seeking academic support when needed. I am confident that under these conditions, I will be able to successfully complete the course and continue progressing toward my degree without further disruption.
I am in strong need of enrolling in ECON 256 this semester and unfortunately missed the enrollment deadline by only one day. Given the circumstances and my current readiness, I respectfully request consideration to enroll in the course so that I may remain on track academically.

Based on the number of mandatory courses remaining in my program, it has become clear that I will not be able to graduate on time unless I am able to enroll in the required courses this semester.
If I were permitted to also enroll in EMPR 300, which is another required course for my program, I would be on track academically and would have a full but manageable course load of five courses this term. Completing both ECON 256 and EMPR 300 this semester is critical for keeping my degree progression on schedule. Due to the ongoing and distressing circumstances affecting my family in my home country, I was largely offline and unable to engage with academic planning during this period. It is extremely important for me to maintain a full five-course semester so that I can get back on track academically. I have already reached out to the professors for both ECON 256 and AMOR 270 to discuss my situation and express my interest.
