Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am in my 4th year of concurrent education and in intermediate senior with one of my teachables being math. I need 3 more units of a course that count towards my math teachable. I am currently enrolled in math212 but am really struggling with the content. I have done everything possible to do my best in this course including asking the professor multiple questions, reading the entire textbook and completing the homework questions but I truly do not understand any of the content and will not receive a good grade in this class. I need to maintain a specific GPA in all the courses that count towards my math teachable, in order to attend 5th year next year of my BEd program. I have received A+ in my last few math classes and have tried my absolute best to ensure I meet the GPA requirement in order to attend 5th year.

I would like to swap classes and drop math212 and enrol in CLST407. I have researched this class and have spoken with the professor and him and I both think this course would be the best fit for me. I have been dealing with personal family matters and was unable to do this research and change it sooner which is why I am now trying to swap the classes this week. I enrolled in this program because my goal ever since I could remember, was to be a math teacher and I really do not want math212 to be the reason I cannot get into 5th year and complete my program.

I kindly ask that I am able to swap the courses, as I know CLST407 is the best fit for me and I cannot afford to have one course disrupt everything I have worked so hard for.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: My plan moving forward is to successfully complete CLST407 this term to satisfy the requirements for my math teachable. I am going to complete all homework assignments, attend every class, and ensure I stay on track with the course timeline. I am going to continue maintaining a strong GPA across all my math courses and remain on the Dean's Honour List. I will proceed to 5th year of my concurrent education program as planned and complete my teacher education requirements. My long-term goal is to become a mathematics teacher, which has been my career goal for as long as I can remember.
