Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am writing to respectfully request an extension of the incomplete grade currently listed on my transcript for PSYC 100. I will be writing the final examination for this course in April alongside the other PSYC 100 students this semester. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to complete the final exam during the previous term, and I did not have any flexibility regarding the timing of the examination. As I understand it, the incomplete grade is scheduled to automatically convert to an F at the end of the term.

Given that I am unable to write the final exam until the following term, I kindly ask that the grade remain as an incomplete until the exam has been completed and a final grade can be properly assessed. I am currently applying for summer employment, and I am concerned that an F on my transcript would not accurately reflect my academic progress or the extenuating circumstances surrounding the completion of this course. An incomplete standing would more accurately represent my situation and would not negatively affect my GPA. Additionally, many of the positions I am applying for,particularly government roles, require meeting a minimum academic threshold.

I would greatly appreciate your consideration of this request. Please let me know if any additional information or documentation is required.
