Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally request Credit (CR) standing in KNPE 254 with Dr. Costigan, due to extenuating academic and personal circumstances that significantly impacted my performance in this course.
Throughout the term, I encountered significant academic challenges that were largely beyond my control and had a direct impact on my performance in this course. From early in the semester and continuing through the final assessment period, I experienced ongoing difficulty understanding course expectations and effectively aligning my studying with the material being assessed. The course was particularly challenging in that lectures and frequently extended well beyond the core concepts outlined in the syllabus. While I made consistent efforts to keep up with the material, the scope and depth of content covered, often exceeding what was required for evaluations, made it difficult to determine which concepts were essential. This resulted in confusion and inefficiency in my studying, ultimately affecting my performance on graded assessments.
Despite these challenges, I remained engaged in the course and made good-faith efforts to improve my understanding, including consistently attending lectures, reviewing materials, independently revisiting course content, spending time with a tutor, and adjusting my study strategies. However, the lack of clarity around expectations persisted throughout the term, and my academic performance in this course does not accurately reflect my effort, engagement, or overall academic ability.
For these reasons, I am requesting Credit (CR) standing in KNPE 254. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
