Petition Letter: Dear Members of the Academic Petition Committee,
I am writing to respectfully submit an academic petition requesting permission to drop the course IDIS 173 beyond the official withdrawal deadline.
During the term, I was experiencing serious mental health difficulties that significantly impaired my ability to complete academic work and manage daily responsibilities. These challenges affected my capacity to make timely and well informed decisions regarding my course load, including withdrawing from IDIS 173 before the deadline. At the time, I was struggling to function normally and was unable to engage with my coursework at the level required.
As a result of these circumstances, I was unable to complete the requirements of IDIS 173 in a manner that reflects my academic ability or effort. I recognize the importance of adhering to academic deadlines, and under normal circumstances I would have addressed this situation earlier. Unfortunately, my mental health challenges prevented me from doing so.
I will attach my verification of extenuating circumstances letter to support this petition. I respectfully request your consideration of my situation and approval to drop IDIS 173 beyond the deadline.
