Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I have received a failure grade in Art History 120 during the summer. The grade was received due to extenuating psychological circumstances. During the summer I became increasingly depressed, I began on Ciprolex in March of the school year and following increased the dosage. During the summer family issues arose which increased the symptoms of my depression. While I attempted to maintain the grade in the class, the summer course was too much to handle. I tried again and again to get back on track but then other family issues including my parents troubled marriage, personal issues with intense self-harm, insomnia, and relationship issues, were brought up. Being in South Africa over the summer was extremely difficult and I did not anticipate that I would not handle the summer course after taking six courses in the winter semester and passing them all. Due to this I also dropped the other course I was to begin in July, but could not drop this course.

I would like to appeal to have the grade and course removed from my transcript. I see Dr. Campbell at Student Wellness Services and have began to update her on the events of the summer.
