I am writing to formally submit a Level 2 appeal regarding the denial of my petition for an extension of an exam deferral in PSYC 342. This appeal is based on new evidence that directly addresses the grounds for the initial denial and procedural unfairness in the Level 1 process.
1. Context and Timeline of Events
To assist the Board in understanding the medical documentation provided, I wish to clarify the timeline of my circumstances. My final exam for PSYC 342 was originally scheduled for the December 2025 exam period. During this time, I traveled home to Lagos, Nigeria.
I initially requested a deferral for the December exam, which was approved by my instructor, Leandre Fabrigar. This allowed me to move the examination to the January 2026 deferred exam period. While I was at home, I was scheduled for a medical procedure; however, I was unable to proceed with it at that time due to my mental state, which was characterized by increased anxiety and associated distress before, during, and after the scheduled appointment.
While I was prepared to complete the requirement in January, the combination of these medical circumstances and the significant impact on my cognitive functioning prevented me from being well enough to write the exam during that January window. The documentation from the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre confirms I was under active care during both the December 2025 and January 2026 periods.
