Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to request an extension of my exam deferral for ECON 212, as I was unable to attend the deferred final examination scheduled on January 17 at 7:00 p.m. due to a recurrence of significant eye-related medical symptoms.
I have a documented history of eye infection and inflammation, including a diagnosis of dry eye syndrome, which previously required medical treatment. In the period leading up to the deferred examination, the combination of a heavy examination schedule, prolonged screen use during exam preparation, and winter conditions led to a recurrence of acute symptoms, including eye redness, pain, itching, and extreme sensitivity to light.
On the evening of January 17, my symptoms worsened significantly, and I was medically unable to attend or complete the deferred examination. Following this, I sought medical care at a clinic at the scheduled time, where I was prescribed medication and advised by a physician to rest my eyes for approximately one week. A doctor’s note covering the period from January 17 to January 24 has been provided to support this timeline.
These medical circumstances were beyond my control and directly affected my ability to attend the deferred final examination for this course. I remain fully committed to completing the requirements of ECON 212 and am respectfully requesting consideration for an extension of the exam deferral so that I may write the final examination once my condition has sufficiently improved.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
