Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing today to petition for an extension of an exam deferral for my courses of the Fall 2025 semester.
It’s hard to put into words how much I have struggled over the past few months; struggling with my mental health and daily life made it next to impossible to complete school work and more specifically my exams. Over the course of the semester, my struggles led me into a dark space in which I made an attempt at my own life, this was shortly before my fall exams and left me unable to study or write them. All of this made it next to impossible to complete school work and my exams. My declining mental health over the semester made it very difficult to perform day to day tasks including any sort of academic studies. Getting to class each day was very difficult and studying and completing homework was next to impossible for me. My ability to mentally process anything was completely absent, making simple tasks of daily living incredibly hard.
Since then I’ve continued private therapy, regularly seeing a psychiatrist, counselling with Canadian Mental Health Association, spent time with my family and reached out to and continue to work with SWS and QSAS. I’ve done all that I can to help my own mental health and focused over the last month and a half on recovering and setting myself up for more long term success. I am writing to you today to ask for the opportunity to not lose the credits for these courses and the opportunity to show that I can still succeed in schooling despite the mental health troubles that I have faced. I have shown before that when granted the opportunity to write my previously deferred exams that I can succeed despite the troubles that I have faced and I would be grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my learning again.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.
