Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to petition my Sociology 100 grade due to a misunderstanding about deferring my midterm exam related to my registered academic accommodations.
At the time, I believed I was following the correct process based on my understanding of my accommodations and conversations with my accessibility advisor, Ellen Babb. I was under the impression that the missed midterm that was discussed prior would be reweighted into my final exam if no alternative time was set up. Instead, the midterm was recorded as a zero, which does not reflect the situation or my intentions.
After realizing the issue, I spoke with my accommodations advisor, who is aware of the situation and can confirm that it was a misunderstanding around my newly approved accomadations. I also contacted my professor to clarify the misunderstanding but have not yet received a response. I have all necessary documentation available to support my request.
I respectfully ask that my midterm be reweighted into my final exam as originally understood, and that my grade be reconsidered accordingly.
