Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing for an extension of my incomplete grade status for KNPE 255.
I suffered a concussion at the end of March 2015 and due to the severity of the concussion I was not able to study for or write my final exams in April. These courses included KNPE 227, KNPE 255 and ANAT 316. I was hoping to write these exams before the beginning of the fall term and was planning to write when I felt my symptoms would not affect my ability to write. I thought through my recovery over the summer that I had reached a point I that I could, so I contacted my professors and set up my exams for the second week of September.
I wrote ANAT 316 and KNPE 227 exams this past week and they went terribly despite spending much time studying. Regardless of the months of recovery time I have found that my symptoms from my concussion have not fully subsided and they are still placing strain on my concentration and retention ability and feel I am not able to write this exam to my full capabilities at this time. I decided to seek help from my undergraduate coordinator (Anna van der Meulen) before attempting to write my last exam (KNPE 255).
I have booked an appointment with the doctor (Dr. O¿¿Connor) I was previously seeing in April and will continue to go to him in the future to help me with courses of action to aid in my recovery. I am also in the process of getting set up with accessibility services for my upcoming term and courses so I can be successful this year.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
Sincerely,
Brittney Snell
