Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

Please accept this petition regarding dropping classes after the last official date. I request to drop the courses selected due to the impact of the extenuating circumstances on my academic performance, affecting my ability to effectively complete the classes. These extenuating circumstances began with the bombing and danger my relatives faced while sheltered due to the Gaza/Israel war. At the same time, my father's dementia worsened rapidly. I had to take the lead on his home care because of my family's financial strain. With help from the Student Wellness Services counsellors and medical team, I registered for disability accommodations during this time. I have been treating my mental health challenges from these circumstances with medication. My academic performance suffered greatly, and I could not complete all my planned courses from Winter 2024 to Winter 2025.

This grief, fear, and disorientation caused a steep drop in my academic performance. This is not typical for me as a student. The circumstances continue, but I have recovered from acute stress. I have found proper and consistent treatment for myself. Therefore, I feel confident in requesting this petition for late course drop and moving past the atypical events which have occurred and continue to grow. Thank you for your time and consideration.
