Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern:
Hope this letter finds you well.
I am Jasmine Kong with student number 20260304, I am writing this letter because based on the communication I had with Student Support Service, my goal for this year and the differences between my situation in last term and this term, I want to request a chance to drop the classes I listed just like what support service recommended me to do so that my study process can go on in the best way. I think it can be seen that during last term, which is the fall term of 2025, I had experienced a very down period. Because in the summer of 2025, I was asked to drop from school for one year and my application for waiving this request lasts for a very long time. I think this thing affected my mental situation a lot because I remembered it's very hard for me to sleep during that time and I will spend most of my time thinking about every bad result that I might face laterš„². I tried to pull myself on track but sometimes I just can't stop myself from spending time on thinking about everything related to the application and it made my ability to stay focusing on my work become even much worse... I pretend to be fine, pushed myself to go to every class and even finished most of my midterms for the classes from last term (which I think it's the time that I attend most midterms since I started to find help in second year.) But finally I still screwed all of them up, like I even didn't have any clear memory of what I wrote during midterms or what I have written for my assignments (it's easy to see that I had to use lots of extra time for assignments completion because I usually felt very depressed and had very limited energy during that time, like I would easily fell asleep everyday even if I didn't feel very tried.. I think it may happen because I usually couldn't feel asleep during nights ...) When I got the final good result that allowed me to continue study, more than half of the fall term had passed... After that, although I tried to pull myself on track, but it still seemed to be too hard for me because I had been left behind for these classes for a very long time. Besides GLPH 271(A class that mostly based on assignments and doesn't have heavy weight on exams), I found that I totally couldn't catch the other three classes learning process. Because the letter for the final result used to tell me that they will do another evaluation on my grades after winter term, so this situation actually made me feel very afraid and I totally be caught by that shocking feeling and just like you know. All these finally made me lose the courage to attend any of the final exam from last term... I know that sounds sucks but I promise these are all true description of what I faced during last term. I think right now I have to face it because I think my situation won't be such good this term if I didn't experience the down periods from last term. I think this term my situation totally recovered, and I think you might can ask for any of my professors from this term for proving what I said. It's already half of the term and I haven't been submitted any work late while I chose to drop one of my classes because I think retake it during summer might be more
suitable for me. (I think it's the first time I have courage to drop a class that might not work for the term since year 2). So, I am pretty sure now I have prepared to take them (the class on the list) at another time as I already planned to finish all the rest of classes until winter term of 27, which gives me enough time to take all classes in the best way. I promise after dropping them, I would definitely retake them and finish them in a better way during another time while I will make sure to finish the rest assignments and exams on time from GLPH 271 as we already talked about these works and my prof from 271 already validate my request for deferral works. I think four classes from this term and deferral works from 271 already made up a pretty good workload for me because right now I want to focus on every one of work. Thus, another three
