Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I appreciate the time you have taken to review my petition. I am submitting this petition based on the recommendation of instructor Niya St. Amant, who mentioned that we can request for a CR in place of our grade in KNPE 167 from winter term of 2025. At the end of that particular term, Queen's underwent a massive strike, which included T.As, Graduate students etc. Since the instructor of this course (Ms. St. Amant) was a graduate student, our final assignment, worth a very large portion of our grade, was not marked. Additionally, there was no final exam, even though I was fairly confident I would do quite well on it. The options that were provided to us were to either take our current grade as a final grade, or take a CR and it would not affect our gpa. Since I was a first year and fairly new to the whole university grading system, I decided just to take my current grade, which was based on very little coursework, as I did not think it would affect my gpa too much. Having just seen my unofficial transcript almost a year later, I now see that the B in that class is substantially affecting my gpa in a negative way. Niya St. Amant had said that if we wanted to change our mind about our grading decision, we could easily submit a petition and she would have no problem supporting that. I apologize for this taking so long, but I had no idea how much it was affecting my gpa, and I believe that I am still within the window to appeal. I'm not too sure on the process, as I'm seeing that I may need some sort of documentation to support the petition, but in this scenario I'm not too sure what would be required.
