Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I appreciate the time you have taken to review my petition. I am submitting this petition based on the recommendation of instructor Niya St. Amant, who mentioned that we can request for a CR in place of our grade in KNPE 167 from winter term of 2025. At the end of that particular term, Queen's underwent a massive strike, which included T.As, Graduate students etc. Since the instructor of this course (Ms. St. Amant) was a graduate student, our final assignment, worth a very large portion of our grade, was not marked. Additionally, there was no final exam, even though I was fairly confident I would do quite well on it. The options that were provided to us were to either take our current grade as a final grade, or take a CR and it would not affect our gpa. Since I was a first year and fairly new to the whole university grading system, I decided just to take my current grade, which was based on very little coursework, as I did not think it would affect my gpa too much. Having just seen my unofficial transcript almost a year later, I now see that the B in that class is substantially affecting my gpa in a negative way. Niya St. Amant had said that if we wanted to change our mind about our grading decision, we could easily submit a petition and she would have no problem supporting that. I apologize for this taking so long, but I had no idea how much it was affecting my gpa, and I believe that I am still within the window to appeal. I'm not too sure on the process, as I'm seeing that I may need some sort of documentation to support the petition, but in this scenario I'm not too sure what would be required. Thank you again for taking the time to review my petition, and please let me know if you need anything further from me.
Take care,
Liam McMahon
