Petition Letter: I am writing to respectfully request that the Faculty waive the one-year deadline to submit a petition. I understand the importance of university deadlines, and I would have initiated this process earlier if I had been able to do so. However, ongoing extenuating circumstances beyond my control prevented me from submitting a petition within the required timeframe.
Throughout my undergraduate studies, I experienced significant and ongoing personal and family-related challenges that created substantial emotional stress and instability in my home environment. These circumstances were not limited to a single term but persisted over an extended period of time, affecting my academic functioning and overall well-being. As a result, I struggled to consistently perform at my usual academic level and to fully manage the administrative responsibilities associated with my studies.
Because these circumstances continued throughout my undergraduate years, they also prevented me from initiating a petition within the one-year deadline following the affected courses. During this time, my primary focus was on managing the ongoing situation and maintaining stability, which limited my capacity to understand and act on the petition process. The prolonged nature of these challenges made it difficult to take the necessary steps to address my academic record earlier.
Once my circumstances became more stable and I was better able to reflect on my academic history, I sought guidance and began gathering the necessary documentation to support this request. I now have supporting documentation that outlines the nature and duration of the extenuating circumstances and confirms their impact on my functioning during my undergraduate studies.
I respectfully request that the Faculty consider my situation and grant a waiver of the one-year deadline so that I may proceed with submitting formal petitions regarding the affected courses. I appreciate your time and careful consideration of my request and am prepared to provide any additional information if required.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Anita Nadarajah
