Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Queen's Advising,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to formally request permission to withdraw from GEOL 200 (Oceanography) after the official course drop deadline.

My name is Euan Clements (Student Number: 20463401). I am currently in the process of changing my academic path from a General Arts Geology program to a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. To be eligible for admission into the Philosophy program, I must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.1.

Continuing in GEOL 200 will significantly lower my GPA and may prevent me from meeting this requirement. Additionally, this course is not required for the Philosophy program I am pursuing. Given this, remaining enrolled would not contribute to my academic goals and may hinder my ability to transition programs successfully.

To stay on track academically, I plan to take summer courses to make up for the credits associated with this withdrawal. I am fully committed to maintaining my academic progress and ensuring I meet all necessary requirements for my new program.

I understand that deadlines are in place for important reasons, and I sincerely apologize for missing the withdrawal deadline. I respectfully ask for your consideration of my situation and approval of this request.
