Petition Letter: Dear Professor,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing to formally request approval for a late withdrawal from PHYS 104 during the 2024-2025. Due to a combination of academic and personal challenges at the time, I was unable to maintain the level of performance I strive for and I was completely lost at the time on what to do.
During that term, I experienced significant and ongoing difficulties with focus, time management, and consistency in keeping up with coursework. These challenges became more apparent as the term progressed and were particularly impactful in this course. Following that period, I sought medical evaluation and was subsequently diagnosed with ADHD about one month later because of my performance over this term and especially this course. Since then, I have begun treatment, including medication, which has led to a substantial improvement in my ability to focus and manage academic responsibilities.
In addition, the disruptions caused by the strikes at the university during that term affected my expectations and planning, although no excuse as i was mostly affected by not organizing my time well and procrastinating and not realizing the better options I had at the time.
Given these circumstances, I believe that my performance in the course does not accurately reflect my academic abilities. Withdrawing from the course would more better represent my academic record.
I understand the implications of this request. I would greatly appreciate your consideration.
Please let me know if any additional documentation is required. Attached is my osap verification form that got approved because of adhd.
Thank you,
Krishan Naveendran
