Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Academic Appeal Board,

I am writing this letter in hopes to appeal my final grades last school-year during the WINTER semester for ECON 223. During that time I was unable to focus on school due to my struggle with personal issues, a good friend of mine, Rameez, had passed away during the Nuit Blanche festival after being the victim of a stabbing. After the incident I returned home to Toronto in order to say goodbye and pay my respects to the family.

I had never planned to appeal the decision on my grade because I had dropped all my other courses and knew the consequences of keeping ECON 223 if I could not handle it, however, after speaking with Katie from the academic advising team at the Faculty of Arts and Science I am hoping I can provide sufficient information in order to have the grade removed from the record.

My departure from Kingston hindered my ability to successfully attend classes and as a result my grades suffered. I hope the board will take my appeal into consideration.
