Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I hope you are doing well. I am writing to respectfully request consideration for a grade waiver for some of my courses from my first year and the beginning of my second year, as these grades have had a significant negative impact on my GPA and do not accurately reflect my academic abilities or potential. During that time, I was experiencing serious personal and mental health challenges that greatly affected my ability to perform academically. I was struggling in ways that impacted my focus, motivation, attendance, and overall ability to manage the demands of university life. At the time, I was not fully equipped to handle these challenges, and as a result, my academic performance suffered. During my first-year fall and winter semesters, my mental health struggles became so overwhelming that I ended up dropping several of my courses because I was mentally unable to keep up with the workload and expectations. This was an incredibly difficult decision for me, but at the time, I felt unable to manage my academic responsibilities while also dealing with my personal and mental health challenges. These circumstances were not a reflection of my commitment to my education, but rather the result of difficulties I was facing personally and mentally. Since then, I have taken important steps to address these issues. I am now receiving support from mental health professionals and working closely with my family to improve my well-being, stability, and overall ability to succeed both personally and academically. I have been making a genuine effort to rebuild myself and become the student and person I know I am capable of being. I am committed to my education and to moving forward in a healthier and more productive way. I truly believe that the grades from that difficult period do not represent my true academic potential or the student I am today. For this reason, I am respectfully asking for consideration to waive or remove the impact of these grades on my GPA. I would be extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my academic journey without being permanently defined by a period of significant personal hardship. Thank you very much for your time, understanding, and consideration. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to be heard and would be happy to provide any supporting documentation if needed. Sincerely, Iniya Thanarajah 2047 9399
