Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing a petition to waive the petition deadline as well as the petition itself. Over most of my time at Queens I have been severely impacted by extenuating circumstances primarily related to mental health. In an earlier appeal from 2024 that was accepted I submitted documentation of my diagnoses at the time and my personal work with the hospitals youth mental outreach program . Since then I have been really focused on healing myself for the long term and I have newer documentation from last summer that I will provide with my current diagnoses that currently impact me, but I am in a much better state currently which has been reflected with my more recent grades.

The documentation is technically for a doctor but I believe it will provide the best insight on what I have been and still struggle with, all I ask is that the information on this document is not shared under any circumstances. I know I requested for credit standing but I would also be happy with simply dropping the course if necessary. I will be happy to gather any other documentation needed to ensure my petition goes through as I don't want my mental health struggles to further impact my life goals. The reason I am requesting these courses is because I would like to switch into the history honours program as I am currently in the general program. I would honestly like to request almost every course I have had below a C- in during my first 3 years of study.

My current diagnoses are as followed, this is supported by my documentation;
1) Borderline Personality Disorder
2) Persistent Depressive Disorder with recurrent Major Depressive Episodes, currently in remission from MDE
3) Generalized Anxiety Disorder
4) Probable Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

As I said, I am in a much better place mentally now although I do still struggle.

Thank you for your consideration,
Aidan Coccimiglio
