Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to respectfully request permission to enrol late in two summer courses, as I missed the summer course enrolment deadline due to circumstances outside of my control while I was away on exchange.
While I was on my exchange program, my phone unfortunately broke. After getting it replaced/fixed, I was unable to access my authenticator app, which meant I could not log into my Queen’s email or SOLUS. I attempted to contact Queen’s IT while I was still abroad, but I was unable to call successfully with my Italian phone number.
As soon as I returned home yesterday, I contacted Queen’s IT immediately. They were able to help me restore my authenticator access, and I can now access my Queen’s accounts again. Unfortunately, once I logged into SOLUS, I saw that the summer course enrolment deadline had already passed, which is what I was worried would happen.
I want to emphasize that I genuinely tried to fix this issue while I was on exchange, but I was not able to resolve it until I returned home and could contact IT properly. I am in my final year and really need to take two summer courses in order to stay on track with my credits and graduate on time.
I have already reached out to the instructors for several possible summer courses, including HLTH 101, ENGL 100, HIST 125, HIST 260, and ARTH 120, to ask whether they would be willing to allow me to join if my petition is approved. I am very flexible and would be grateful for the opportunity to enrol in any two available summer courses that would help me complete the credits I need.
I can also provide a screenshot or documentation of my communication with IT Services if needed to verify the situation.
Thank you very much for considering my request. I understand that deadlines are important, but I hope my circumstances can be taken into account. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance or accommodation that would allow me to enrol in two summer courses and remain on track to graduate.
