Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dean,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to respectfully request consideration for a late course add petition. At this point, I only need one additional course in order to complete my degree requirements and graduate.
Earlier this January, I had discussions with my Undergraduate Chair regarding my academic standing and graduation situation. At that time, there was confusion and misunderstanding surrounding my degree completion because we believed that I might already be able to satisfy my degree requirements during the January period.
Afterward, beginning in February, I spent a significant amount of time waiting for approval and guidance from the ILOP office regarding taking a course outside Queen’s University. Unfortunately, because the office staff responsible for the process was on leave, I was unable to receive follow-up communication or a final response for a long period of time.
Because of this, I made the mistake of proceeding with coursework at another institution while continuing to wait for the formal approval process and response. At the time, I misunderstood the process and did not realize that courses taken without formal ILOP approval would ultimately not count toward my degree requirements. I fully understand now that this was my mistake and responsibility.
As a result, I now find myself in a situation where I still require one final course in order to complete my degree. I am sincerely hoping for the opportunity to enroll in a summer course through a late course add petition so that I may finally complete my studies.
I understand that deadlines and procedures are important, and I truly regret the confusion and errors that led to this situation. I would be extremely grateful for any consideration, flexibility, or assistance that could help me complete my final requirement.
Thank you very much for your time, understanding, and consideration.
Sincerely,
Zhongyao Liu

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I currently require only one final elective course in order to complete my degree requirements and graduate from Queen’s University.
My academic plan is to enroll in an available Summer 2026 course through the late course add process and successfully complete the course requirements during this term. I am fully committed to focusing on this course and ensuring that all academic responsibilities, deadlines, and communication requirements are properly managed.
I understand that misunderstandings regarding the ILOP approval process and delayed communication contributed to my current situation. Through this experience, I have gained a much clearer understanding of the academic procedures and approval requirements at Queen’s University.
My goal is to complete this final requirement as soon as possible so that I may graduate and move forward with my post-graduation plans.
Thank you for your consideration.
