Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am petitioning for an extension of my deferred exams for MATH/MTHE 281 and STAT 269.

My deferred exams are currently scheduled as follows:
MATH/MTHE 281: May 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM, in person.
STAT 269: May 21, 2026 at 2:00 PM, in person.
Both exams are centrally administered deferred exams.

I am currently in China and I am unable to return to Canada for these scheduled in-person exams because of a recent medical procedure and recovery requirements.

On May 6, 2026, I had a lesion/mole removed from the sole of my left foot after experiencing itching and pain. The procedure involved local anesthesia, surgical removal, suturing, and pathological examination. Because the wound is located on the sole of my foot, recovery affects my ability to walk, travel, and complete long-distance international travel.

At my follow-up appointment on May 15, 2026, I was still experiencing pain after the procedure. The doctor noted a linear surgical scar on my left foot with mild redness and swelling. I was advised to continue dressing changes, keep the wound dry, and rest for two weeks.

Because the scheduled exams are on May 20 and May 21, they fall directly within this recovery period. Returning to Canada would require long-distance travel, airport walking, and a long international flight, which would interfere with my recovery and the doctor’s instructions.

Therefore, I respectfully request an extension of my exam deferrals for MATH/MTHE 281 and STAT 269, ideally to a date after August 20, 2026, when I expect to be able to return to Canada and write the exams in person.

I have attached my supporting medical documentation, including the pathology report, outpatient records, diagnosis certificate, payment records, deferred exam schedule
