Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hi, I had scheduling conflicts when organizing my classes at the start of the term. I chose to pick an elective (GPHY 101) because it fit my schedule but I really wanted to take SPAN P10, the only issue was that the only sections that fit my schedule were full (001 and 003). I emailed the professor throughout last week asking if it were possible to take one more student but M. Chamberlain said she could not do anything if I cannot enroll through SOLUS. I just checked SOLUS again today and it said that the class now has open spots but I have just missed the September 25 deadline. I would be replacing GPHY 101 which I honestly haven't invested much into so far this year hoping I would be able to get into Spanish.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I have more motivation to learn Spanish than I have felt for any type of course before, I recently travelled through South America this past summer and I have developed a deep interest in learning the language. I haven't had any formal Spanish lessons but I hope to have the opportunity to build on the basic conversational Spanish I have been able to pick up. I have a friend who is taking Spanish currently so I am well aware of what the course entails and I am confident that I would do well with the material. I have no doubt I would be able to join and keep with the class but I worry this process will take 3 weeks like I was warned where I may fall behind those currently in the class. To account for the possibility of having to wait another 3 weeks before joining the class I will make sure to keep I top of the material by contacting my friend and studying whether I am able to join or not. My lack of interest in GPHY makes me concerned that I will not excel in the course, as I feel I am already slowly falling behind. Thank you for considering my concern and I hope to hear back whether or not I am able to learn Spanish this years. Thank you,

Greg Bojeczko
