Petition Letter: To whom this may concern:

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally request the opportunity to drop Psychology 305 from my transcript due to circumstances beyond my control that significantly impacted my performance in the course during my final semester.

Throughout my eight years as a mature student, I have dedicated myself to my studies and have consistently worked hard to achieve my academic goals. However, during this past semester, I was subjected to persistent harassment from an individual, which created an environment where I struggled to focus on my coursework.

This situation has not only affected my academic performance but has also taken a toll on my mental well-being. It has always been my goal to walk across the graduation stage and demonstrate to my children that perseverance and dedication can lead to success, regardless of the challenges faced. I believe that having an F on my transcript does not reflect my true abilities or the effort I have put into my education.

As I move forward into September, I am committed to ensuring that the legal proceedings regarding this harassment are resolved, allowing me to concentrate fully on my studies without the distractions that have plagued me this past semester. It is my sincere hope that I can graduate with pride, unburdened by the weight of this grade, and show my children that achieving one’s dreams is attainable.
