Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am petitioning for the extension of the deadline to petition my one year requirement to withdraw from Queens University. Due to extenuating circumstances, I missed the deadline.
Since I was young, I suffered from mental illness, and due to the stress of my first year at Queens, I struggled to manage my mental health . By February 2026, I steeply declined, and began to fail to attend classes. By March, I completely lost the ability to go at all. In April, I sought assistance from an Academic Advisor to help with my options.
During the month of May, I consulted with doctors and counselors to focus on my mental health which was another obstacle to attending classes. In late May I started summer employment, which took up the majority of my time.
From shortly after I withdrew from some of my classes until recently, I had no access to any of the applications related to Queens as there was an authentication error with my Microsoft Authenticator. I did not have time in the day to call the IT because my work hours were during the contact hours for IT.
In June I finally had the time to talk to IT, and they helped me regain access to my Solus account and my Outlook email. While attempting to ask for help with selecting courses,I was notified of my block on class selection. Unfortunately, by the time I figured everything out the deadline to petition had passed.
I have taken care of my mental health and am now healthy enough to attend Queens in the fall. I would like an opportunity to petition my requirement to withdraw.
Thank you for your consideration,
Isabella Andrews
