Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to request permission to late add HLTH 101: Social Determinants of Health for the July August 2026 Summer Term.
Before the course registration deadline, I was unable to register due to a financial hold on my student account. In order to resolve this issue, I submitted a Request for Debtor Appeal & Payment Plan on July 3, 2026, before the July 10 registration deadline. I was awaiting a response regarding my request and my ability to proceed with course registration.
I received a response on July 9, 2026 but I did not see the message before the registration deadline passed on July 10. Once I became aware of the response and the missed deadline and took steps to request permission for a late add.
Adding HLTH 101 is important for my academic progression because I am working to stay on track with my degree plan. During my first year, I completed fewer courses than the typical course progression, and completing this summer course would allow me to earn an additional credit and continue progressing toward my academic goals.
If I'm approved, I am prepared to dedicate additional time to reviewing any missed lectures, readings, and course material. I will ensure that I catch up on any outstanding work and fully participate in the course for the remainder of the term.
I respectfully request consideration for a late registration exception for HLTH 101. Thank you very much for taking the time to review my petition and consider my circumstances.
Sincerely,
Marie-Jocelynne Kasiama

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: If my petition to late add HLTH 101: Social Determinants of Health is approved, I will spend extra time reviewing the material I have missed and catching up on any lectures, readings, assignments, or other course requirements. I understand that the course has already started, and I am prepared to put in the additional effort and time needed to successfully complete the course.
Taking HLTH 101 during the summer term will allow me to earn an additional credit and continue progressing with my academic plan. Since I completed fewer courses than the typical first-year course progression, completing this course will help me continue moving forward and stay on track with my degree goals.
To make sure I do not miss important information in the future, I will enable notifications for my Queen’s email and other university platforms so I can receive updates as soon as they are sent. I will also make it a habit to regularly check my emails, SOLUS, and university communications, especially during important periods such as course registration and when dealing with administrative matters.
Moving forward, I will continue working on my organization and time management by keeping track of important deadlines, planning my courses ahead of time, and addressing any registration or account issues as early as possible. These steps will help me stay on track with my studies and successfully complete my degree requirements.
