Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am a first-year student in the Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Kinesiology program. I respectfully request a late drop for PSYC 100 for the Winter 2026 term due to medical reasons.
During the Winter 2026 semester, I suffered from severe anxiety, insomnia, and physical exhaustion. As a first-year student new to Canada, I was initially unfamiliar with how to access appropriate support services. Upon returning to China, I sought medical attention at Xuanwu Hospital, where I was formally diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. I have since been undergoing treatment, and my condition has improved significantly.
Although my instructor had kindly agreed to grant me a deferred exam, subsequent consultations with my academic advisors clarified that I would still be unable to complete the majority of the coursework required to pass the course, even with the deferral. Therefore, a late drop is the most appropriate academic remedy.
My medical records and official diagnosis from Xuanwu Hospital are attached to this petition as supporting documentation.
