• My name Is Isaiah Martinez I have been attending Queens since fall of 2020 as a student in Life Sciences.
• I am writing to respectfully petition for a late add of WRIT 120 or HIST 283 for the Summer 2026 term.I recognize that the deadline to add courses has passed, and I sincerely apologize for requesting an exception. Academic Plan: A. Course(s) of Study
• I am currently enrolled in CHEM 285 for the Summer 2026 term.
• If my petition is approved, I will also enroll in WRIT 120 or HIST 283, which will satisfy the final three credits required to complete my Bachelor of Science (Life Sciences).
• I have reviewed my Academic Advisement Report with Academic Advising and now have a clear understanding of my remaining degree requirements to ensure this misunderstanding does not occur again.
B. Workload
• I currently work four days per week outside of classes.
• I have intentionally structured my work schedule with my managers so that the remaining three days are dedicated exclusively to my academic success and so my schedule does not have a lot of variability
• These three days are reserved for attending lectures, completing assigned readings, studying course material, working through WileyPLUS assignments for CHEM 285, completing written assignments for one of the courses I am petitioning for and preparing for quizzes and examinations.
• At the beginning of each week, I will review both course syllabi and organize all upcoming deadlines into a weekly planner.
• I will prioritize assignments based on due dates and aim to complete major assignments and WileyPLUS work at least two days before the deadline.
C. Strategies for Success
• I will review CHEM 285 lecture material after every class and complete WileyPLUS assignments on a consistent schedule to reinforce new concepts.
• I will complete assigned readings before each HIST 283 class whenever possible and begin written assignments early by breaking them into smaller tasks (research, outlining, drafting, and revising).
• I will use a weekly planner and calendar to monitor all assignment deadlines, quizzes, and examinations.
• I will maintain regular communication with my course instructors and attend office hours whenever I require clarification on course material.
• If I encounter academic challenges, I will seek assistance through Academic Advising, Teaching Assistants, or Student Academic Success Services before falling behind.
• I will continue to monitor my degree progress by reviewing my Academic Advisement Report and consulting Academic Advising whenever questions arise regarding my remaining requirements.
• Despite it only being two courses, should I be falling behind I already organized contingencies where I take time away from work, and I will have days booked off for exams and larger assignments.
