Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am hereby asking approval to add Bio 201 Diversity of Life after the add/drop date. I acknowledge it is passed the add/drop period however I have attended all lectures and labs and am completely caught up with the course material.
It is very important to me that I get into this course as it is a pre-requisite to a significant number of upper-year courses. There are spots available in both the lecture and lab section.
I am new to the registration process and was therefore confused by the wait-list process. I was under the impression that I would be automatically sent an email of an open spot in a different section or that I would be placed into an open spot automatically. I have and continue to be number 1 on the wait-list. Because the wait-listing was not automatic as I had thought, I missed the opportunity to register and now find myself adding after the add/drop date.
It is possible that I missed the instructions on late registration as I do have significant visual disability (legally blind). Further confusing the registration process was caused by me not being able to register for my courses until open registration as I had taken a first year pre-requisite course during the summer. This meant I had to change many/all my courses after open registration when many were already full. I did seek advice from an advisor to make these changes but the wait-list process caught me off-guard.
Please approve my appeal to add Bio 201 after the add/drop date.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: As I am up to date with the course material and indeed have been proceeding under the impression that I would get into this course, there is no need to make any significant modifications. I already receive support for my visual disability from the University and am now fully aware of the registration and wait-list process.
