Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to add the EPID499 course (Fall 2015/Winter 2016) to my schedule past the academic deadline.
I met with Ana Johnson, the course coordinator, during the first week of classes and we discussed the potential of myself joining the course. I decided that I was definitely interested in completing a 499 project and planned to meet with my potential supervisor, Dr. Imaan Bayoumi, the following week. Dr. Bayoumi works at the Napannee Area Community Health Centre during the week and therefore we could not until Thursday September 24th in week 2. We discussed potential projects and Dr. Bayoumi sent multiple documents for me to analyze and to assist in deciding on a topic.
The next day (Friday September 25th) I attended the EPID499 meeting ready to present my topic and to start my research. I spoke with Ana in regards to becoming enrolled in the course and she said she would email the Life Sciences office and they could enroll me - neither of us realizing that Friday was actually the deadline to add/drop courses. I mentioned that I originally enrolled in five courses for the semester, but would be willing to drop one for EPID499. Ana said I had to drop the course myself on SOLUS and I did so right away, in the anticipation that I would be enrolled in EPID499.
As a result, I am currently enrolled in four classes for the Fall 2015 semester. I have left room in my schedule for the EPID499 course and as of now, it is a requirement for my degree. I am planning to graduate this spring and I need the EPID499 course to complete my Life Sciences degree plan. I accept the blame for the situation I am now in and realize I should have paid more attention to the important academic dates.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have been in frequent contact with Ana since the first week of classes. I have attended all of the course meetings that have taken place and already begun to work on my 499 project with Dr. Bayoumi. I have also attended the Department of Public Health Sciences seminars, as is required for the course, and submitted my first assignment. Therefore I am already caught up on the course work and there will be no need to catch up.
