Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I would like to drop my online course PSYC 333, which I am taking online through CDS, but have missed the deadline to drop this course. I was unable to access my midterm mark on Friday due to my work schedule and only yesterday was able to begin the process of finding information on how to drop this course. Thursday night, I worked in the afternoon and evening until two in the morning and was not available to see the mark. Friday I was at work all day and night and was unable to access my mark in time to drop this course. Yesterday I sent emails to my professor and academic advisor for advice and today was told to file an appeal. It is not possible for me to continue with this course as I am struggling to complete the course work with my full time job. I have enrolled in an online degree program following my bachelor's degree, which I received attending Queen's University main campus, with the wish to continue learning but did not have the academic experience that I expected. I have been a stellar student at Queen's in the past, graduating with a B.MUS with distinction, and receiving excellent grades especially in my last 2 years. This midterm mark, a 58, is not reflective of the student that I am or have proven to be at my time at Queen's. I would like to have the deadline waived so that I can drop this course and return to school when I am in more of an appropriate position to continue my post-undergraduate education.
Thank you for your attention to this appeal.
