Petition Letter: Dear Ma¿¿am/Sir,
I am writing this letter for my concern of an elective course I took called Film 240 this semester. My GPA was poor in first year, but ever since then it has always been on the rise. And with my current unexpected problem that I face with Film 240, I see my GPA dropping drastically, unless if this course gets dropped.
A few weeks prior, I had an assignment due known as feedback. As I opened the assignment, I quickly noticed the other students were giving feedback for an assignment I was still currently working on and thought was due in sometime. But unfortunately, due to an error of miswriting the date in a calendar that my friend and I both shared, I missed the deadline of that assignment by a total of 6 days. This assignment, infographic, was one that I was very keen on doing well, and was very positive I would do well on as I did well on a similar assignment called postcards. I had very high hopes of getting at least a 80 in it but as soon as I noticed that the deadline had passed, and after contacting the professor and knowing she couldn't help us, I lost directly 20 of my overall course mark. 20 is a big deal for any course. It¿¿s the difference of two whole letter grades, from an A directly to a C. I have never in my entire high school, or university, academics faced such a circumstance. And know that this was truly a mistake that is my fault, but never should have happened. I¿¿ve become really stressed over the past weeks due to this, that it has affected other courses and my mental health.
I know for a fact that this honest mistake would never be repeated again. This course was one elective that I was doing good in. I had really hoped to get a minimum of a A- in it. But now, just to pass is really difficult and getting an overall mark of even a D just drives my GPA back down. I would have never let this happened, and had this happened before the academic deadline I would¿¿ve dropped the course. But now since I¿¿m in such a situation that I can¿¿t do much of, and as a result might even fail the course, I write this letter to you in hopes you might understand my situation and give me a chance to work towards building my GPA again.
Sincerely,
Charmy Patel
