Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to request an appeal to have my BIOL 103 grade removed from my transcript. I took this course last semester and it was an extremely difficult period of time for me. I started medication for my anxiety as I was really struggling and could not get it under control. Furthermore, my aunt, who had been suffering from terminal cancer, began to medically decline. Unfortunately, she passed away on November 23 and I immediately traveled to Ireland to be with my family. The circumstances of her death were not easy and it mentally took a toll on me. When I retuned back I did not feel completely normal and did not have time to grieve, as I was immediately thrown in to exam season. Additionally, just before exams I found out that my grandmother was ill and had been taken to hospital. She passed away on January 13, 2016. I believe that all of these events greatly contributed to my anxiety and added to the fact that my grade was not a good representation of what I could accomplish. These extenuating circumstances prohibited me from being able to perform throughout the semester and particularly at exam time.
I would appreciate if my grade could be removed from my transcript so it will not appear when I retake the course.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Academically, I will be retaking this course online next semester in order to complete the requirements I need to graduate. I will also be consulting an academic advisor to see what they say to do. Mentally I am seeking help through Queens Counseling service in order to come to terms with these deaths and to learn how to best manage my anxiety.
