Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Due to my part-time status in third year (2014-2015 year), I visited the Arts and Science Undergraduate offices a number of times in the Fall term, and spoke to a couple of your representatives. At the time, I was enrolled in five 3.0 unit courses for the Fall 2015 term and another five 3.0 unit courses for the Winter 2016 Term. The representative ensured me that this would be sufficient to graduate, and that I even had the room to drop one 3.0 unit course. With this knowledge, I decided to drop one 3.0 unit course last semester as my other four courses were core courses and wanted to devote my time and resources to doing the best I could. ¿¿¿¿Despite the assurance I was given by the registrar, on the last day of add/drop, I received an email from Andrea LaBelle (who deals with the applications to graduate), informing me that I was one 3.0 unit short. I responded to this email, writing that I didn¿¿t think this was possible. She responded to me early Week 3, informing me that the information was right and I wasn¿¿t on track to graduate in the Spring.

I would consider taking a summer course and apply for Fall convocation, however my job this summer is in the mountains and I have no access to electricity or wifi. If I had known I was one course short before add/ drop was over, and I had had sufficient time to enrol in a course, I would have.

Kate Rowbotham and I have already had meetings and she ensured me that she could take me on to help me graduate on time. I have over 10 friends in the course that said they would also help me out. Please consider my appeal, as I don¿¿t have any other options.
