Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am writing in hopes to appeal my grade for STAT 263 from the fall term. I received a D- in the course. A few days prior to the exam, an incident occurred involving myself and another student in the class. This incident very negatively affected my mental health. I suffer from both anxiety and depression and due to these extenuating circumstances; I was not in a good mental state for the Stat 263 exam worth 90 of my final grade. My Psychologist, Dr. Helen Bienert., contacted Professor Charles Molson before the exam and explained the circumstances to him in hopes of getting the exam postponed. Professor Molson was both accommodating and understanding and moved my exam back a few days. As much as I appreciated and made good use of the extra time, I do still believe that I was unable to write the exam to the best of my abilities, which is why I am requesting that my grade be changed to a CR. After my exam, Professor Molson emailed me suggesting that I appeal this grade, as he too believes that I was unable to perform to the best of my abilities on the exam. In his email he also stated that he would write to the Associate Dean¿¿s Office in support of my appeal. Dr. Helen Bienert is also available for contact at 613-342-9191 if necessary. Thank you for the consideration of this appeal.
Kind Regards,
Kathryn (Katie) Fowler
