Petition Letter: Dear associate deans¿
I am appealing to drop CISC 499 4th Year Undergraduate Project. Due to my misunderstanding that the last day to drop a course is February 28, I'm two days late to drop this course.
Due to some technical problems (waiting for Compute Canada to give me access rights and the amount of the data I'm processing is too large), I will not be able to finish my project in this term. My supervisor Dr. QingLing Duan suggested me to drop the course because she thinks it's impossible for me to even finish cleaning the data I need to use in this project, and half of the term has passed.
I wasn't sure that I was eligible to enroll in this course at the beginning of this term because I was waiting for my fall term grades to come out ,so I was a week a a half late to register in this course. Then I spent two weeks waiting for Compute Canada to grant me the permission to access the database and the operating system. When I finally had the access to everything, almost half of the term have passed. My supervisor found out that all the data was unprocessed after she downloaded them for me. We both assumed that the data was processed and I could start my programming and testing once I get my data. Data cleaning could usually take months. So she told me drop the course and do it in summer or fall term.
I talked to Professor David Rappaport and I decided to changed my topic and do his project. He said that I could start working on it this summer and finish it in next fall term.
