Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am making this appeal in hopes of dropping all of my courses to withdraw from Queen¿¿s altogether. I have been struggling with my mental health my entire time here, seeing a counsellor for all 3 years so far. This year, I was diagnosed (or believed to have) Borderline Personality Disorder. Recently, a series of unfortunate events has caused an uproar in my social life, with the issues even being brought to the attention of HR. These conflicts have made focussing on school very difficult. On my first two midterms, I received grades of 41 and 53 (just wrote second midterm for the second class). With my GPA already somewhat low, these were marks I could not afford. I was ready to drop by the deadline, but I was waiting for the midterm marks from PSYC 342, written before reading week. I felt I did really well on that midterm. You can imagine my surprise when I learned that I failed it with a 46. The midterm grades were released on the night of Sunday, February 28th. Now aware that I am failing 3 of 5 classes, I realize the best course of action is to withdraw from studies and take some time to figure out what is best for me. I strongly believe going to College is my best bet. My counsellor, parents, and many friends have agreed and even suggested leaving Queen¿¿s in the past.
So in conclusion, I believe withdrawing from studies is my best course of action. I believe that waiting for the PSYC 342 midterm grade and receiving it just after the drop deadline is a fair case in making an appeal, and I sincerely hope you will permit me to withdraw without academic penalty.
